Your accounts, explained.
BBS, IRC NickServ and Member Lounge are three separate logins. Changing one password does not change the others. Linux/root and cPanel logins are staff infrastructure accounts.
BBS
Connect using SSH port 2222 or the browser terminal. Type NEW to register. To change your password after logging in, open D — Default User config and follow the password-change prompt. If locked out, ask staff in #help; staff will verify account ownership privately before resetting anything.
ssh -p 2222 [email protected]
IRC
Choose a nickname, then register with NickServ in its private service window. Use a unique password. Prefer SASL over TLS for future logins.
/msg NickServ REGISTER YOUR_NEW_PASSWORD /msg NickServ IDENTIFY YOUR_CURRENT_PASSWORD /msg NickServ SET PASSWORD YOUR_NEW_PASSWORD
Type these in your IRC client, never into a public channel. If using Member Lounge, update its saved network SASL password after changing your IRC password.
Member Lounge
Staff provision the persistent web-chat account. Its sign-in password is separate from the saved IRC network SASL password. Ask staff for a private reset if needed. Closing the browser leaves this IRC session connected.
Staff versus normal users
Administrators have a separate staff identity. A normal IRC account does not become an operator by registering a nickname; operator authentication is a separate staff action. Staff never need your existing password.
Recovery
There is no unverified automatic email password-reset feature. Request help in #help or email [email protected]. Provide your account name and which system you mean, not a password. Staff confirm ownership before issuing a temporary replacement.
